Back in December Kellog's announced they would reintroduce many of Mother's Cookies back into stores by June 2009, but guess what? They are back already!!!When I heard of Mother's Cookies filing for bankruptcy last year, I was horrified. The first thing I did is purchase some iced oatmeal cookies and of course circus animals. I don't even like circus animals, but it comforted me to know they would be available whenever I wanted. I saw the supply of Mother's cookies slowly disappear from the grocery store shelves and it made me so sad. So yesterday while grocery shopping I see this bag out of the corner of my eye with what looks to be a picture of CIRCUS ANIMALS? Can this be? Circus animals?, well now they are called iced animal cookies - which is soo lame, but I bought them anyway.
I had to do a comparison of the two cookies, cause yeah, I still had my bag of OG Mother's animals unopened in the cabinet.

For my comparison, I tried both a pink and white animal from the batch to be fair, even though everyone knows the pink cookies taste better. I even tried to compare the same species of animal, but it seems the new "Nabisco classics" animals have no camels?!? Well actually they do and I panicked for a bit. They have camels, but lame camels that are sitting down. Plus the new cookies are much bigger and have mutant animal shapes, which makes it hard to figure out what animal you are eating.
Mother's circus animals are much easier to distinguish the animal shape, and
their pink is much more vibrant, like plastic! The only thing Mother's Cookies circus animals doesn't have going for them is the taste. I hate to say this, but the new "iced animal cookies" by nabisco are much more tasty. The icing might look more blah, but it melts in your mouth much better than the icing on Mother's cookies did (which was kinda Crisco-esque).
